Yesterday I had TiVo record the Ironman Hawaii coverage on NBC TV. This morning, when I checked it I was happy it was recorded but quickly got pissed off that NBC ran NASCAR long and ate up 20 minutes of the Ironman coverage. Not having time to check the recording, it made for an emotional drive to get some food with Heather. When I got back and checked the end of the recording I saw that NBC did fit the entire race into the allotted 2 hours... meaning that Tivo had captured it.
I watched the first few minutes. Wow. Great coverage. Al Trautwig brings out the emotion of the event. Great cinematography. They're definitely going for the human interest stories... which is great... we all know how the race ends by the numbers. There's the typical Ironman mystique and hyperbole, which I could live without. Great coverage though! Can't wait to watch the whole thing!
